A warm welcome to all, especially visitors. After the 10.30 liturgy coffee and soft drinks will be available in the Salle Mounier, next door, outside to the left and the first door and up the stairs. Please join us if you can. (Please be as quiet as possible in the hallway so as not to disturb the Dominican brotherhood.)
Bienvenue à tous, particulièrement à nos visiteurs. Vous êtes invités à la réception après la liturgie dans la salle Mounier, au dehors de l'église, la première porte à la gauche, premier étage.
From the Priest-in-charge: As you go on your annual holiday, please do not forget that as committed Christians we do not take a holiday from our God. It is a wonderful witness to search out the local Christian community, whatever it might be, and to worship with them. The Christian Church has always taught that it is an obligation of Christians to offer worship to God within the local Christian community on the Lord's Day and to receive our Lord in the Blessèd Sacrament, if at all possible.

At our annual Parish lunch we spoke about our commitment to youngpeople and children. On the first Sunday of the month our worship seeks to nourish people of all ages. The Alleluia Kids also meet in the Centre Mounier on the third Sunday of the month. We would like to offer more opportunity for them to meet, learn about their faith and grow together and suggest that they meet every Sunday from September. To do this there needs to be volunteers. No training is necessary, just a willingness to read Bible stories and enjoy talking about them with the children. Please talk to Sarah or Christine.
update: thanks to those who offered to help with the Alleluia Kids, we always need more willing helpers, please speak to one of the clergy or a churchwarden or to Sarah Palmer if you can help.
NEW: Magazine Corner! From the first Sunday in September there will be a "magazine corner" during coffee time after church. Some recent glossy and un-glossy magazines will be available for you, guide price one euro but pay what you can - if you have magazines you have read, don't add to your recycling pile, bring them to church for sale to help our funds. Contact is Jane Griffiths 0388412487 daytimes.
Please also remember that the expenses of the parish continue through the summer. It would be very helpful to the treasurers if you kept your pledge to the parish up to date. This will aid them in meeting the bills through the summer.
When you are considering your financial support of the worship and work of your parish, please remember that a good standard is to give €1. every week for every €1000. of annual household income. This is usually done after taxes, since some of our taxes go to do some of the social work that helps the needy in our society. Everyone's personal circumstances are different and so everyone should consider carefully, prayerfully and generously how much financial support one will give to uphold the worship and the work of this parish. It is up to us to offer what is needed to keep our parish functioning. Please remember the fundamental Christian idea that nothing in this world really belongs to us. God lets us use things for a time and everything is a gift from God for us to use for a time.
Pray for the sick, remembering Mihajlo Arsenski; Clarisse; Giovanni di Chito; Debby Doyle; Joy Sissons;Nasera Stoeckel;Jerome Turley; and Frances and those known to us. Pray for the departed. (If you wish to have a person prayed for by the parish, please let the clergy or the wardens know.)
ST ALBAN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH celebrates the Eucharist every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. here in the Eglise des Dominicains, corner of boulevard de la Victoire and rue de l’Université (Tram lines C or E at tram stop: Observatoire)
Food for thought. Extract from “Why go to Church” by Timothy Radcliffe.
When we offer each other Christ's peace we are doing more than making up for a cross word. We are accepting the basis on which we are gathered together. We gather as an acceptance of Christ's indestructable peace. We recognise that we are here in Church not because we are friends or because we enjoy the chummy atmosphere, or because we have the same theological opinions, but because we are one in Christ's peace. Why go to Church? To exchange the kiss of peace with strangers. What matters is not that we feel united, but that peace is given.
